WNZR 90.9 FM a broadcast ministry of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, is teaming up with Gospel Supply Shop to host a special event for Gospel Day during the Dan Emmett Music and Arts Festival. Kids of all ages are invited to attend a VeggieTales Showcase on Sunday, August 12. Three VeggieTales videos will be shown at ThePlace@TheWoodward on 111 South Main Street in downtown Mount Vernon.
The first feature, “Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Samson’s Hairbrush,” will be shown at 1:00 p.m. It will be followed by showings of “Gideon, Tuba Warrior” at 2:15 p.m., and “Larry Boy and the Bad Apple” at 3:30p.m.
Doors will open 10 minutes before each showing. This FREE event will give attendees the chance to sing VeggieTales silly songs with WNZR DJs and win prizes. Seating is limited to the first 100. Tickets are required for admission. FREE tickets can be picked up at Gospel Supply Shop (117 South Main St.). Tickets will also be available at the door.
VeggieTales is a kid's video series from Big Idea Productions that teaches timeless values like honesty, kindness, and forgiveness in a delightfully wacky way. Hosted by Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber, each video in the series teaches a biblically-based life lesson. These hilarious stories feature top-quality computer animation, infectious songs, and lovable characters.
“Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Samson’s Hairbrush” is an action-packed adventure that introduces a courageous hero-Minnesota Cuke-and features the comedic escapades of Larry the Cucumber, with family-friendly lessons about bullies, forgiveness and patience. The premiere will also features the animated short, "Bully Trouble," and Larry's Silly Song, "Pizza Angel."
“Gideon, Tuba Warrior” is the incredible story of one of the greatest biblical heroes of all time — a cucumber, chosen by God, to defend his people against an army of 30,000 excessively hairy pickles! However, the reluctant, tuba-playing Gideon is better trained at marching in formation than he is at marching into battle. Will he be able to trust the message delivered to him by the angel (Pa Grape) and protect his people? Accompanied by a mere six carrots and six peas, will Gideon be able to stand against an army of thousands? Event goers will discover a tale of courage and trust.
“LarryBoy and the Bad Apple” means VeggieTales’ famous superhero is back! There’s trouble in Bumblyburg and only one person can save the day—LarryBoy! Will the good people of Bumblyburg be able to resist the malicious guile of this crafty fruit and worm duo or will this peaceful haven be destroyed forever? Find out in this exciting adventure.
