Call for Entry
We are proud to present the 2008 Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival. The Festival encompasses a wide variety of activity including: continuous live music and dance, traditional & contemporary artists, a juried fine artists, antique & classic car show, flower show, fine food and much, much more. Centered around Mount Vernon’s shaded town square and historic Main Street district, the Festival has become Knox County's premier family celebration.
Entry Procedure
Concession Division
Applicants must submit the following:
- Application
- A photo of the concession booth
- Self-addressed stamped (S.A.S.) envelope
- Valid certificate of insurance (C.I.)
- List of ALL electrical equipment
- Payment (by check) for booth fees
- Sketch of your req'd booth layout
Application packets including all of the above items, must be received no later than May 15th, 2008 or until full. No late payments will be accepted. If your application is not accepted, your check payment and C.I. will be returned in June.
Insurance
Each concessionaire must carry a minimum of $500,000 in liability coverage. A valid CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE for liability coverage must accompany each application.
Regulations and Information
- R&R area will be provided for the concessionaires.
- The Festival will conduct a marketing campaign.
- No glass containers may be used for serving.
- Concessionaires selling food products are required to obtain a Food Service Operation License from an Ohio county health department and are subject to compliance with all government food service regulations. (Contact the Knox County Health Department at 740-392-2200 for information.)
- No smoking is allowed in or near any booth. All booths are subject to government fire regulations. Fire extinguishers are required in each booth area.
- The Festival begins on Thurs. Your setup time will be confirmed individually. Each concession must remain open during the minimum hours of : Thurs. 11 am - 11 pm; Fri. 11 am - 11 pm; Sat. 10 am - 11 pm; and Sun. 11 am - 5 pm Exceptions for plated specialty meals may be permitted with permission in writing and in advance from the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival, Inc.
- All open tables must be draped to the ground and all trailers must be skirted.
- No solicitations shall occur outside of the assigned booth space (i.e. raffles, drawings, etc.).
- All vehicles must be removed from the concession area 30 minutes prior to exhibit hours.
- Parking spaces for support and supply vehicles are not provided by the Festival.
- Applicant will be bound by the concession booth layout sketch sent with application. Please provide complete information for space req’d, including trailer tongue, tent supports, etc. Show your entire set up.
- Photo of concession provided must reflect the actual proposed setup for this Festival.
- Acceptance to the Festival is juried and will be based on all items mentioned and types of food sold. An overall balance and variety, without significant duplication of product sold is required by the Festival. Preference may be offered to previous Festival concessionaires.
- Only those items approved in writing by the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival, Inc. may be sold, including all beverages. The Festival reserves the right to determine what items are sold, who may sell any particular item, and where the items may be sold. This regulation is not negotiable and will be strictly enforced by the Festival.
- The Knox Co. Board of Health and the City of Mount Vernon has advised the Festival that vendors will no longer be able to dump gray water into the storm water catch basins. The Festival will provide a free dumping spot on the SW corner of the Square that will be available overnight and at certain daytime periods. If you require gray water dumping at other times, please notify the Festival to make other arrangements. You must be able to dump using a small garden hose connection to use this dump station. No leaks please.
- All sales and income taxes are the responsibility of the concessionaire.
- The Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival, Inc. is not responsible for any loss or damage to the property of the concessionaires.
- If you cancel after June 30, no fees will be refunded.
- The Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival, Inc. reserves the right to cause removal of concessionaires from the grounds if regulations are not observed anytime during the Festival.
- The Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival, Inc. reserves the right to reject any and all applications.
- Applicants will be notified of acceptance at the address specified by the applicant.
Concession Space & Fees
Fees shall be based on frontage required (10' minimum). Calculated frontage shall include trailer tongues, tent stakes, etc. Concession fees:
- Commercial - $12 per foot or 12% of gross receipts, whichever is more.*
- Non-profit - $10 per foot or 12% of gross receipts, whichever is more.*
- *There is no maximum fee - the 12% includes all on premise sales and excludes utilities.
- Water - Free; Gray water Dumping - Free.
- Trash - $30.00
- Electric - $15 for 110V up to 20 Amp; $30 for 220V up to 50 Amps, $60 for over 50 Amps.
- Minimum Booth Fee - $120-Commercial or $100-Non-profit, plus electric and trash.
