6th Annual Cheer Competition
There is no better way to energize a crowd for the fun and excitement of a festival than cheerleaders! Cheerleading teams from the surrounding area are invited to attend the 6th annual Cheer Competition at the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival to showcase their pep and spirit.
The Cheer Competition is scheduled for Thursday, August 11th at 6:00 p.m., and will be held on South Main Street between Gambier Street and Ohio Avenue, near the Central Ohio Technical College and the MVNU Art Gallery. Whether it's Varsity, Junior Varsity, Junior High, or Pee-Wee/Colt, all squads may contend for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies in their respective division. All teams will have up to 3 minutes to perform before the judges, including 1 minute of dance/music.
What does it take to place? Squads will be judged on their motion technique, voice projection, transitions, formation and spacing, the flow and pace of their performance, jumps, dance, synchronization and timing, effective and appropriate words and skills, use of signs, pom-poms and megaphones, showmanship, choreography, and the overall impression that they leave on the judges and audience. While there is no tumbling, stunts, or pyramids allowed at the DEF Cheer Competition, there will be plenty of bounding energy and a lot of team spirit!
