Voice and Performance Competition
Celebrating the Legacy of Daniel Decatur Emmett
All potential candidates for the Knox Idol competition at the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival must attend the scheduled audition prior to the final event. The audition performances will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23rd at ThePlace@TheWoodward, 111 South Main Street in downtown Mount Vernon. The audition event is free and open to the public.
The final competition will be held at the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival on Friday, August 14th at 9:00 p.m. All finalists will perform and then be voted on by the audience at the Festival. Ballots, with two voting sets, will be available for purchase for those wishing to vote for a $1 donation, with all proceeds being donated to the Woodward Opera House restoration project.
The contestants will be narrowed to two per category in a preliminary performance, with each then giving a second performance. The audience will then vote one last time to select the divisional winners and runner-ups.
