The 2018 Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival will hold its 13th annual Knox Idol Competition! This friendly singing contest showcases some of the area’s leading vocal talent, and allows the public to determine the top musical performers in Knox County. Performers will sing their hearts out at a chance to win Knox Idol in one of two categories: Youth (ages 14 to 18) and Young Adult (ages 19 to 29). This year’s Young Adult first place receives a $1,000 cash prize, second place $100. The Youth first place award is $200, and second place $50.
The Semi-Finals of the Knox Idol competition will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 9 on the First-Knox South Stage. The Knox Idol Finals will take place at 9:00 pm on Friday, August 11 on the First-Knox Main Stage. Contestants will perform before a live audience during both rounds of the competition. The audience will determine the fate of each contestant during each round. Ballot sets will be available for purchase for those wishing to vote for a $1 donation. All proceeds collected during Knox Idol will be donated to the Woodward Opera House restoration project.
