The Chautauqua Series is a series of living history performances.  We are pleased to present several recent Chautauqua programs during the 2016 Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival.  Here is what you can look forward to!

Julia Child is portrayed by Susan Kahrl.  Child was an American chef, author, and television personality recognized for brining French cuisine to the American public with her debut cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking.  Her subsequent television programs, the most notable of which was The French Chef, premiered in 1963.

Charley Parkhurst  is portrayed by Jordyn Laslo.  Parkurst, also known as One-Eyed Charley and Six-Horse Charley, was born Charlotte Darkey in 1812.  She was an American stagecoach driver, farmer, and ranger in California.  She ran away as a youth, living as a male named Charley.  In 1868, Charley may have been the first female (passing as man) to vote in a presidential election in California.

Bob Dylan & George Harrison are portrayed by Mike Petee and Desmond Wall.  It is the night of December 6, 1988.  With the success of the first Traveling Wilburys album earlier in 1988, Bob and George meet on the night of Roy Orbison's death to sing some of their songs and the Traveling Wilburys and reminisce about their own careers and that of their friend. 

Sgt. Pepper (originally called the Chautauqua Beatles), is a group of musicians that bring the sound and songs of the Beatles to a new generation, and to all the generations since that day in February, 1964 when Ed Sullivan declared the British Invasion underway.  Sgt. Pepper is made up of Desmond Wall, Roy Rush, Mike Petee, and Bill Miller.
