VeggieTales Showcase
Sunday, August 10
12:45, 2:30 and 4:00 pm at ThePlace@TheWoodward
VeggieTales Showcase is made possible through the generous support of WNZR
WNZR 90.9 FM and Friendly’s Restaurant are hosting a special event for Gospel Day during the Dan Emmett Music and Arts Festival. Kids of all ages are invited to attend a VeggieTales Showcase on Sunday, Aug. 16. Three VeggieTales videos will be shown at The Place @ The Woodward at 111 S. Main St. in downtown Mount Vernon.
VeggieTales is a video series from Big Idea Productions that teaches kids timeless values like honesty, kindness and forgiveness in a delightfully wacky way. Hosted by Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber, each video teaches a biblically-based life lesson. These hilarious stories feature top-quality computer animation, infectious songs and lovable characters.
The first feature, Abe and the Amazing Promise, will be shown at 12:45 p.m. It will be followed by Josh and the Big Wall at 2:30 p.m. and Dave and the Giant Pickle at 4 p.m. Doors will open 10 minutes before each show.
Bob and Larry will be the featured characters at this year’s Dan Emmett Festival and will be making appearances throughout the weekend. They will also make a special appearance before each showing on Sunday to greet Showcase guests.
This event will give attendees the chance to sing VeggieTales silly songs with WNZR DJs and win prizes. Seating is limited to the first 100. Admission is free, but tickets are required for entrance. They may be picked up at the Knox County Visitors Bureau (107 S. Main St., Mount Vernon), Friendly’s Restaurant (808 Coshocton Ave., Mount Vernon) or Gospel Supply Shop (117 S. Main St., Mount Vernon). Tickets will also be available at the door.
In Abe and the Amazing Promise, Bob the Tomato responds to a fan’s letter about “waiting” by directing a Bible-times interview with Abraham, Sarah and their promised son. Junior Asparagus is anxious for the new show production to be finished. Bob and Junior’s patience is tested by uncooperative camels, a confused nurse, an easily distracted film crew and a host of other laughable filming disasters! Kids will learn God always keeps His promises, even if we have to wait awhile! Abe and the Amazing Promise will be shown at 12:45 p.m.
Josh and the Big Wall tells the story of the children of Israel and their trip to the Promised Land.
After 40 years of wandering in the desert, they come to the city of Jericho! Surrounded by huge walls and bristling with really annoying little peas, no one gets to the Promised Land without going through Jericho first! But how? Joshua has God's directions, but they sound suspicious. In the end, they have to decide whether it’s better to do things their way or God’s way! Kids will learn a lesson in obedience. Josh and the Big Wall will be shown at 2:30 p.m.
Dave and the Giant Pickle is the Veggie Version of David and Goliath. This adventure pits Junior Asparagus against a really mean, really BIG pickle! Little Dave learns that with God’s help, even little guys can do big things! This Bible adventure teaches a lesson in self-esteem.
Dave and the Giant Pickle will be shown at 4 p.m.
