The 2015 Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival will hold its 10th annual Knox Idol Competition! This friendly singing contest showcases some of the area’s leading vocal talent, and allows the public to determine the top musical performers in Knox County. Performers will sing their hearts out at a chance to win Knox Idol in one of two categories: Youth (ages 14 to 18) and Young Adult (ages 19 to 29). This year’s Young Adult first place receives a $1,000 cash prize, second place $100. The Youth first place award is $200, and second place $50.
Auditions will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in [email protected]. The top contestants will be selected by a panel of local judges. Last year's Knox Idol judges were Marcy Rhinehart from MVNU and Corey Strinka from Highland High School.
The Semi-Finals of the Knox Idol competition will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 13 on the First-Knox South Stage. The Knox Idol Finals will take place at 8:00 pm on Friday, August 14 on the First-Knox Main Stage. Contestants will perform before a live audience during both rounds of the competition. The audience will determine the fate of each contestant during each round. Ballot sets will be available for purchase for those wishing to vote for a $1 donation. All proceeds collected during Knox Idol will be donated to the Woodward Opera House restoration project.
