The 2010 Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival held auditions for the Knox Idol competition on Thursday, July 22. The Knox Idol contestants were selected by a panel of qualified judges – Bruce Jacklin, Amy Stoner, and Suzy Springer. Finalists for the competition are:

The final competition will be held at the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival on Friday, August 13 at 9:00 p.m. All finalists will perform and then be voted on by the audience at the Festival. Ballots, with two voting sets, will be available for purchase for those wishing to vote for a $1 donation, with all proceeds being donated to the Woodward Opera House restoration project.
The contestants will be narrowed to two per category in a preliminary performance, with each then giving a second performance. The audience will then vote one last time to select the divisional winners and runner-ups.
The first place winner for each age group will receive the Knox County Idol award and a cash prize. This year’s Young Adult first place $1,000 cash prize and a second place $100 cash prize. The “Youth” first place award is $200 and the second place $50.
