Sunday, August 10th has been set for the 2008 Dan Emmett Antique and Classic Car Show at the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival. Antique and classic cars and trucks from around the country will be proudly displayed in downtown Mount Vernon from noon to 4:00 pm.
The registration area will be located next to the First-Knox Main Stage on the Square. Registration begins at 10:00 am. and ends at approximately 2:00 pm. The fee for the show is $10. The Car Show is open to the general public from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. with over 75 awards for the cars being presented at 4:00 pm.
Live music will be presented from the First-Knox Main Stage by Kokosing River Surf Club and Autumn Daze, both providing listeners with a blast from the past – a tribute to the music of the 60’s and 70’s. The event also features a 50/50 raffle and free dash plaques and event T-shirts to the first 150 registered vehicles.
Each car is unique with some classic cars having gold plated rims on the tires, large engines, and fancy paint jobs. Every vehicle is truly a work of art.
The Car Show is being sponsored by Donley Ford-Lincoln-Mercury of Mount Vernon and will be hosted by Let’s Go Cruisin. The show will be held on the West High Street area from Mulberry to Sandusky Street, including Mulberry and Mechanic Streets, and Vine Street from Mulberry to Gay Street, allowing for many more vehicles to be displayed. Cars should enter from Sandusky Street (SR 13) onto High Street and park as directed by the car show staff.
